Writing poetry and stories in verse have always come naturally to Karyn Almendarez. She fell in love with rhyming picture books from reading them to her children and hearing them repeat the stories in verse as they learned how to read.

Karyn is a retired elementary school teacher living in Colorado who fills her time by writing books, poetry, and podcasting. Reading aloud to her students and watching them enter the world inside the story motivated her to write children’s books.
